Overview
Central Dalmatia is Croatia’s most popular sailing region, and for good reason. With a perfect blend of lively towns, secluded bays, and historical sites, it offers an unforgettable yachting experience. The proximity of the islands makes for easy line-of-sight navigation, ideal for less experienced sailors.
Sailing insights
Expect gentle afternoon Maestral winds, calm seas, and sun-drenched days from May to September. The short passages between islands allow for plenty of time to explore ashore, swim in crystal-clear coves, and enjoy the local cuisine. Anchorages are plentiful and marinas are world-class.
The sailing here is relaxed and visually stunning. You'll navigate through channels between beautiful islands, each with its own unique character. Drop anchor in a different bay each night, dine in family-run konobas, and wake up to the gentle lapping of the Adriatic. It's a perfect mix of sailing and sightseeing.
Wind Conditions
Primarily the Maestral (NW) in summer, a reliable and moderate afternoon sailing wind. The Bura (NE) is rare in summer but can bring strong gusts. The Jugo (SE) is less common and brings overcast skies and rain.
